ConEd Fire Affects Metropolitan Hospital

August 26, 2010 - East Harlem. A Consolidated Edison (Con Ed) transformer exploded this morning at East 96th Street and First Avenue and affected electrical power at Metropolitan Hospital Center which is located at East 99th Streets between Second and First Avenues. Community residents reported hearing an explosion at around 9:30 am. The explosion was followed by dark heavy smoke and the smell of burnt electrical equipment. The smoke having no place to go, traveled from 96th Street and exited an iron street level grate at First Avenue and 99th Street, three city blocks away.

East Harlem - July 21, 2010. Tucked away in the corner of East 110th Street very near Park Avenue is La Corsa Pizzeria and Ristorante, one of East Harlem’s best new eateries. La Corsa is a gem of place for East Harlemites to dine since November of 2009. Unlike most eateries that have to work hard to create a “Mom and Pop” experience, La Corsa is the real thing. It is owned by Nina and Nino Digiovanni.
